A friend wants to create an online community for people interested in photography, with user profiles, discussion boards, and the ability to share project updates. We're comparing different platforms and hosting options before committing to the project. We need daily backups and DDoS protection, especially if the community attracts more members. I came across hostpro.com (http://hostpro.com) and wondered whether their shared hosting could handle a small community website or whether starting with a VPS would be better.
