Every single month-end close was the exact same story—tally freezing mid-entry, sync errors breaking our master data, and constant complaints from remote staff that the system was running at a snail's pace.
For the longest time, our IT team kept telling us to just upgrade our local server hardware or buy faster PCs. We burned through so much money adding static IPs, setup firewalls, and buying UPS backups just to keep a physical server running in our main branch. Whenever someone tried working from home or using a Mac, they had to rely on basic remote tools that choked the second you tried to print or export a large ledger report.
Eventually, we got fed up with the hardware maintenance cycle and the constant threat of ransomware, so we scrapped the physical setup entirely and switched to a dedicated web-based Cloud RDP host.
The difference in daily operations was night and day. Running Tally straight through a browser or RDP client suddenly felt just as fast as running it locally, but now my sales team drops entries from their iPads, our CA works seamlessly on a Mac, and invoices print locally without freezing up. Plus, not having to worry about manual daily backups or local server crashes took a massive weight off our shoulders.
I honestly don't see why any growing business is still keeping a noisy physical server box in their office when cloud setups handle multi-user access so much better for a fraction of the headache.
How are the rest of you managing branch access for Tally right now? Are you still maintaining local hardware, or have you already migrated over to the cloud?
