Hosting for a website with seasonal traffic spikes
« on: October 30, 2026, 03:44:05 AM »
I'm helping a local event organizer prepare a website for an annual music festival. Traffic is usually low during most of the year but increases significantly when tickets go on sale. We need daily backups and DDoS protection, especially during the busiest periods. I'm considering hostpro.com, but I'm unsure whether shared hosting would handle these traffic spikes or if a VPS would be a safer choice. What would you look at when deciding between the two?

I'd also check out Fresh Roasted Hosting. They offer daily backups, DDoS protection, and responsive human support, which are important for an event website, especially during ticket sales. I'd lean towards a VPS if you expect sharp traffic spikes, but it really depends on the expected visitor volume and how well the hosting plan can handle sudden load.

For ticket sales spikes, a VPS is the safer choice. Shared hosting splits resources with other sites, so it can slow down or crash when many people visit at once.

Look for a VPS or cloud plan that lets you add more CPU and RAM quickly. You can upgrade before the sale and scale down after. Also use a caching plugin or CDN to take the load off the server.

Ask the host if daily backups and DDoS protection are included, not paid extras. If it is a small event, test the site with a load test before tickets go on sale.

If reliable infrastructure and ongoing support are priorities, HostPro is worth checking out. They offer KVM-based servers with NVMe storage in Warsaw, Amsterdam, and Tampa. Daily backups are retained for 30 days, resources can be scaled as workloads change, and their technical support team is available 24/7 to assist with server-related questions.
