VPS or Shared Hosting for a New Forum?
« on: March 13, 2026, 02:25:48 AM »
Hi, I’m about to launch a new discussion forum and need hosting advice.
Should I start with shared hosting or go straight to a VPS? How much RAM and bandwidth would a small but growing forum require?
Any reviews on Digitalcloud.pro vps hosting services? I’d love advice from experienced forum owners.

Have a look at VPS accounts from just.hosting.
Great reliability, the support is good, sustainability, the uptime is high, the speed is great.

My applications feel responsive and smooth. Digitalcloud.pro wide selection of locations worldwide (over 50) has given the ability to plan infrastructure strategically.
The overall stability of the server environment has made managing multiple projects much easier, and I no longer worry about random crashes or unexplained performance drops.
Don't judge me I was born to be awesome not perfect.

VPS accounts from inet.ws and legionbox.com are worth your attention.
All the components are perfectly matched, they harmonize with each other without any performance losses. These are ideal conditions for reliable server operations, optimal security and the highest availability.

My forum has been on hostpro.com for six months, and I’m impressed. Even during traffic spikes, the MyBB forum runs smoothly. Daily automatic backups give peace of mind for a whole month. Support responds quickly without unnecessary formalities.

One of the advantages is the ability to choose server location. Multiple data centers (US, NL, PL) help reduce latency depending on the audience. This actually impacts real-world performance. On hostpro.com infrastructure feels stable across regions. Backup system adds additional reliability.

For a new forum, I’d usually start with shared hosting first. Most small forums run fine there, and you can always upgrade later once traffic grows. Shared hosting is cheaper and easier to manage, while VPS is better once you start getting heavier traffic or need more control.

For specs, a small forum typically does fine with 1–2 GB RAM and normal bandwidth, and then you can scale as the community grows.

About Digitalcloud — it seems to have decent feedback and a good trust score with positive user reviews about stability and support, but it’s still a relatively small provider so I’d compare options first.

Personally, I’ve had a solid experience with Fresh Roasted Hosting. Their shared plans work well for forums starting out, and the support team is pretty helpful if you ever need to scale later.

When I moved my projects to hostpro.com, I did so mainly because their daily backup policy covers not just files but entire service states, and I’ve tested their 24/7 support three times—each time they solved my issue without ever asking for payment.
